Thursday, Nov 11 2021 @ 11am - 12pm

Join Atlanta History Center at our annual Veterans Day commemoration ceremony honoring the service and sacrifice of all our nation’s veterans, past and present. This ceremony will take place in Veterans Park at the corner of West Paces Ferry Road and Slaton Drive, and will feature speakers, music, and the opportunity to connect with other veterans and their families. Ceremony guests will receive free admission to Atlanta History Center following the program.

The ceremony will feature keynote speaker Colonel (Retired) Richard White, Director/Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Military Veterans' Hall of Fame. Colonel White enlisted in the US Army Airborne Infantry as a Private in 1966. The Norcross, GA native went on to serve 31 years, including 24 months in combat in Vietnam. His many awards include Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Combat Infantry Badge, Senior Aviator Wings, Ranger Tab, Special Forces Tab, and Master Parachutist Wings.

A key theme of this year’s celebration is honoring veterans inducted in the Georgia Military  Veterans' Hall of Fame. The Georgia Military Veterans' Hall of Fame is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring veterans as well as educating younger generations on military heroes. Every November since 2013, the GMVHOF inducts up to 15 veterans from Georgia.

This event is free and open to the public. Advanced registration is strongly encouraged.

In the event of inclement weather, this ceremony will take place indoors in Woodruff Auditorium located in McElreath Hall.
