Small weddings and intimate ceremonies have a place at the Atlanta History Center, too!
The enchanting Olguita’s Garden or the lawns of Swan House Gardens are perfect intimate settings for a small elopement, vow renewal, or wedding ceremony only, with cocktails and/or reception to follow offsite. Ceremonies on the Fountain side of the Swan House are only available Friday through Sunday. If you are looking to have food and beverage, please see our brochure for full wedding pricing.
Elopement and Vow Renewal
The Elopement and Vow Renewal packages are for up to twenty people including wedding couple, officiant, and photographer. The rental period is for up to four hours. For more than twenty people, or if additional time is needed, please see our Ceremony Only package below. Elopements and Vow Renewals may be booked up to three months in advance. Elopements and Vow Renewals include the Boxwood Porch as a weather plan.
Ceremony Only
The Ceremony Only rental period is for up to four hours, additional time is $175 per hour. They may be booked up to six months in advance. It must be on a day that we do not believe we could sell the full property. Ceremony Only availability is at our discretion. Ceremony Only includes the Draper Room in McElreath Hall as a weather backup for up to 150 guests. The Grand Overlook ballroom will serve as a weather backup for over 151 guests.
Smaller Wedding
Enjoy the elegance of the Swan House Gardens for your ceremony with an intimate reception in the Draper Room in McElreath Hall. Both the cascading fountain and column side of the Swan House work beautifully for ceremonies of any size and the Boxwood Garden is great for ceremonies up to about 60. For those who enjoy flowers, Olguita’s Garden, set just behind the Atlanta History Museum, is a splendid location.

Additional Details | One complimentary bottle of champagne and plastic cups for the wedding couple. Most Elopements and Vow Renewals do not rent furniture, but you may if you wish. If tables or chairs are rented, they must be setup and removed within your contracted timeframe. The setup and breakdown need to be done by one of our rental companies listed in our brochure. Additional Guidelines
- The Swan House is a historic house museum. We do not allow events, changing, waiting, food, or beverage inside.
- Photography inside the Swan House is permitted in the foyer and on the grand staircase, for the wedding couple only, for fifteen minutes, still photography only (no video). It must take place after we close to the public at 4:00. Photography is not permitted inside the Swan House while we are open to the public.
- There are no restrooms available in the Swan Gardens for events. Guests may use the restrooms in McElreath Hall.
- Food and beverage service along with cakes or snacks are not permitted. The only drink allowed to be offered is bottled water. This can be brought in, or supplied by the History Center for an additional fee.
- Ceremony musicians, DJ, microphone, gift table, and décor are permitted and must be setup and removed within your contracted timeframe.
