2022 Georgia Poetry Out Loud State Finals Competition

Education
Sunday, Mar 13 2022 @ 1pm - 2pm

Join us for the final competition in Georgia to see who will be crowned state champion and go onto compete at the national finals in Washington, D. C. The structure of Poetry Out Loud is similar to a spelling bee. This annual program starts in the fall, with high school teachers using the free Poetry Out Loud teacher toolkit and related materials to teach poetry recitation and run classroom competitions. Classroom winners advance to a schoolwide competition; school champions compete at the regional level by mid-February. Regional finalists then compete at the Georgia Poetry Out Loud State Finals for a chance to compete in the national competition in Washington, D.C.

The 2022 State Finals Competition will be livestreamed on Sunday, March 13th beginning at 1pm. The competition will be streamed live on the Georgia Poetry Out Loud Facebook page at: facebook.com/poetryoutloudgeorgia

After the competition concludes, there will be a after party for all those who attend.

The Georgia state champion receives:

  • $200 cash prize and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
  • $500 for their school to purchase literary materials
  • An opportunity to compete at the National Finals for college scholarship funds
