Now called Clayton County International Park, Atlanta Beach was built to provide for the beach volleyball competitions of the 1996 Olympic Games and brought events to Jonesboro. The Clayton County-operated park now includes swimming, slides and amusement, biking, hiking, boating, and even a concert venue. Since hosting the Games the unique man-made beach has been used as a filming location for several movies.
