Opened: 1996 | Still in use
Ocoee Whitewater Center was the only facility for the 1996 Olympic Games constructed with majority federal funding. A team of designers and engineers planned interventions, rock piles, and land narrowing to create faster speeds needed for the events in the Upper Ocoee river. It hosted the whitewater slalom events for the Games. The facility is managed by the National Forest Service and courses from the Olympic era still remain in use.
