The Life of Enslaved People at Smith Farm

The stories of those that lived and labored in north Georgia. The Smith Farm was home to more than the family which bears the same name. It also housed up to fourteen enslaved persons who labored on the farm. Who were these people? What were their lives like? How do their stories impact us today?

This tour will explore how the enslaved people of north Georgia lived and the labor they carried out while enslaved. Many of the stories, names, music, and recipes we are familiar with today can be traced back to these communities. Learn how their legacy extends past Emancipation and influences our lives today. 

This tour is an exclusive offering which is only available when booked ahead. Private tours will be led by the Historic House Manager. 

The duration of this tour is 30 minutes plus additional time for Q&A.
