Explore the buildings and places that make Atlanta special! Through this tour children will gain a deeper understanding of how these sites reflect our city’s geography, innovation, and culture. Using visual arts and hands-on activities, children will discover how the city’s history influences their lives today and imagine their role in its future.
Standards Addressed
Pre-K
- SED1, 2, 3: The child will develop self-awareness, engage in self-expression, and develop relationships with peers.
- CD-SS4: The child will demonstrate an awareness of the economics of his/her community.
Kindergarten
- SSKE1: Describe the work that people do in the community.
- SSKCG2 Describe examples of positive character traits exhibited by good citizens such as honesty, patriotism, courtesy, respect, pride, and self-awareness.
1st Grade
- SS1CG1: Describe how historical figures display positive character traits such as: fairness, respect for others, respect for the environment, courage, equality, tolerance, perseverance, and commitment.
- SS1E1: Identify goods that people make and services that people provide for each other.
2nd Grade
- SS2CG3: Give examples of how historical figures demonstrate positive citizenship traits such as: honesty, dependability, trustworthiness, honor, civility, good sportsmanship, patience, and compassion.
