Our War Too: Women in Service is a groundbreaking special exhibit, made up of unique and colorful artifacts from The National WWII Museum’s collection, honoring the nearly 350,000 American women who answered the call to serve their country during World War II.
The popular and historical narrative of American women during World War II often focuses on those who worked on the Home Front, while stories of women who volunteered for vital roles in the uniformed services are largely under recognized.
What to Expect
Using cutting-edge technology and interactive video displays, I Was There allows guests to hold immersive conversations with three women who served as a driver, nurse, and a baker.
Get a closer look at unique and colorful artifacts from the Museum’s collection that highlight the personal stories and motivations of individual servicewomen.

This exhibition is presented by The Gayle and Tom Benson Charitable Foundation. Local funding is provided by Thalia and Michael C. Carlos Foundation, The Scott Hudgens Family Foundation, and the estate of Mrs. Emily Bourne Grigsby.
