Start them young – it’s what we say when we’re buying newborn babies team jersey onesies and bringing them to local games before they can even talk. Being a sports fan is often less about the team itself and more about the tradition, heritage, and identity. It’s a lifelong connection to family and neighbors, a way to teach kids about pride and loyalty from an early age.
Atlanta has plenty of teams across all sports worthy of this type of dedication– and since we at the History Center also believe “starting them young” also applies to instilling in children a lifelong love of history and learning – we are excited to announce the new era of the Goizueta Children’s Experience will be Atlanta Sports, a brand-new sports-themed installation in May 2026!
Our 5,000-square-foot interactive gallery designed just for kids opened last January with the theme Our Great Big City, highlighting local landmarks and iconic spots that make Atlanta great. Each year, the Experience will rotate to a new theme, offering fresh opportunities for families to explore Atlanta’s history through immersive, hands-on play.
The 2026 edition celebrates Atlanta’s major professional teams, including theBraves, Falcons, Hawks, Dream, United, and more, through games, activities, and storytelling that emphasize teamwork, perseverance, and hometown pride. From dressing up as a player to trying out interactive challenges, kids will step into the action while learning how sports have shaped Atlanta's identity
The Goizueta Children's Experience is located inside the Atlanta History Center's Buckhead campus.
