Atlanta History Center has spent the last 100 years bringing Atlanta’s stories to life. And we are just getting started.
In 2026, we are celebrating our 100th anniversary with a year of new exhibitions, programs, and experiences that highlight the progress, innovation, and community of Atlanta. From a refreshed Goizueta’s Children Experience to the largest Civil War exhibition in the country, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Join us for what will be an unforgettable year as we celebrate the last century and get ready for the next!
New Exhibitions

From March 27 to April 12, Atlanta History Center will be one of only eight locations across the country to host the National Archives’ traveling exhibit, Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents that Forged a Nation. Visitors will be given a rare chance to interact with key founding documents that helped define the nation.

The year launches with Atlanta in 100 Objects, a campus-wide exhibition featuring 100 iconic and unexpected artifacts from the Center’s extensive collections. Take a sneak peek at the objects and more!
-
A new season of the Goizueta Children’s Experience starts in May, with a brand new theme: Atlanta Sports! Kids can experience all our beloved sports teams through play, exploration and storytelling.
-
More Perfect Union: America’s Civil War Era will tell the broader story of the Civil War era, before, during, and after the war, through deeply researched narratives, new technology, and never-before-seen artifacts.
-
The Hard Hand of War: Soldiers, Weapons, and Mass Production will be a dramatic armory-style installation focused on the battlefield experience featuring weapons, uniforms, military gear, and personal items from soldiers on both sides of the conflict.
-
Exile from Georgia: The Cherokee and Muscogee Trail of Tears tells the story of two nations forced to leave their land and homes in the early 19th century and make a harrowing journey to an unknown place and unknown future.
Bring History Home!
Take home your copy of all one hundred objects in the form of a beautiful photo book.
