While there is no perfect substitute for on-site research, most of us are not able to visit Brooklyn, Buenos Aires, or Bangkok to pore over local parish registers for our great grandfather’s christening record.  Fortunately, the amount of genealogical information available online is staggering.  Sue VerHoef, Director of Oral History and Genealogy at the Atlanta History Center, offers tips and techniques for navigating some of the most popular websites, including Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.org
