Atlanta History Center is excited to be a sponsor and Preservation Partner of Atlanta Preservation Center’s 20th annual award-winning Phoenix Flies: A Celebration of Atlanta’s Historic Sites, March 4 through March 26, 2023. The three-week event celebrating Atlanta’s cultural and historic resources will showcase over 50 participating Preservation Partners offering close to 100 separate events, including guided walking tours of historic neighborhoods and districts, cemeteries, parks, gardens, and battlefields; lectures on history, historic preservation and rehabilitation, and photography; and open houses and tours at house museums, churches, history centers/libraries, and community landmarks.
Whether it’s a vintage Hastings’ Seed Catalog, an old postcard of Ansley Park, an early 20th-century garden photograph, or a rare 18th-century volume with stunning hand-colored botanical plates, the remarkable gems of the Cherokee Garden Library tell the diverse and meaningful stories of the people and plants that have shaped our land in Atlanta and beyond.
Tour is limited to 15 people. Check in at security desk of McElreath Hall 10 minutes prior to tour time.
This tour is free, however, registration is required.
