Adult Group Experiences (Self-Guided)

History happens everyday! And that’s a lot of history to tell. So set your own pace and enjoy learning about all things Atlanta history as you stroll through our exhibitions, gardens, and historic houses. Audio tours of Turning Point: The American Civil War are available at admissions. Guided tours of Historic Houses must be scheduled in advance and subject to availability. Group Dining Options: 

Enjoy a local Atlanta dining experience at Souper Jenny located in our museum shop. For groups of 10 or more, Souper Jenny offers a pre-ordered boxed lunch menu. Located on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center, enjoy in a sophisticated Southern lunch experience at the Swan Coach House Restaurant, open Monday – Saturday from 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM.

Gather a group of 10 or more to qualify for discounted admission rates! Self-guided group visits include single-day access to the Atlanta History Center museum, historic gardens, Swan House, Smith Family Farm, and the Kenan Research Center (open Wednesday – Saturday). Guided tours of award-winning exhibitions, historic houses and gardens are also available.

Fashion In Good Taste Tour Experience

Spanning the 1920s through the 1960s, Fashion in Good Taste explores Atlanta’s past through fashion for each of the decades when The Swan House was occupied by the Inman family. Prepare for delight as your private tour guide takes you through each main room of the beautiful 1928 Swan House and shares highlights and special stories from the extensive textile collection of the Atlanta History Center. The exhibition comprises 28 examples of women’s and men’s clothing, including two women’s hats. Six of the pieces were designed or created by Georgia women, including Atlanta designers Clyde Ingram, Thelma Swafford and Ann Moore; Atlanta milliners Loretta Bonta and Lillian B. Head; and North Georgia weaver Mary Crovatt Hambidge.

Goizueta Gardens Exploration

Atlanta History Center is home to 22 acres of beautiful, undisturbed tranquil gardens and trails; featuring six distinct gardens that showcase the horticultural history of the Atlanta region. Take a glimpse into some of Georgia’s most rare and beautiful plants as you follow one of our living collections curators on a personalized tour of the historic gardens throughout our campus.

History Happens Bonus! Atlanta History Center and Margaret Mitchell House Combo Tour

Don’t stop your love of history! With this special group tour combo package, once you’ve learned all about Atlanta’s history on our main Buckhead campus, be sure to head just a few miles down Peachtree Street to trace the footsteps of famed writer, playwright and philanthropist Margaret Mitchell. Your Margaret Mitchell House experience includes guided tours of the apartment where she wrote her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel Gone With the Wind, as well as the explorations of multiple exhibitions about the author’s life, the novel, the film and the city of Atlanta.

Atlanta History Center is a Bank of America’s Museums on Us participant. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch customers receive free admission during the first full weekend of every month.*

Visitors must present a valid Bank of America ATM, debit or credit card, with photo ID.
