Our new after–hours program series is hosted on the fourth Friday of each month and gives guests the chance to kick-off the weekend by grabbing a drink and exploring the museum.

Cyclorama: The Big Picture Film Experience
The Battle of Atlanta Cyclorama Painting

Learn more about The Battle of Atlanta cyclorama painting through a 12 minute film projected onto the canvas about its history and changing interpretations.
This presentation is similar to a movie theater setting in that the room completely darkens and the film is projected onto the painting. The film includes short depictions of war with battle sounds, such as gunfire, shelling and explosions. Ear protection is available upon request to those with noise sensitivity. Closed captioning in English and Spanish as well as audio descriptions are available.

Travel back in time and come meet the past. Encounter Denmark Mitchell, a post-Reconstruction era journalist, as he explores the ideas of the Lost Cause and American citizenship and the interpretive challenges represented by The Battle of Atlanta cyclorama.
This is composite character based on the written and documented perspectives of post-Reconstruction era journalists and intellectuals.
