Kevin Gillespie, Fire in my Belly

Before audiences voted for him as a fan favorite on Bravo’s "Top Chef Las Vegas," Kevin Gillespie was executive chef at Woodfire Grill in Atlanta, where he continues to design ingredient-driven seasonal menus that incorporate the best local, organic, and sustainable foods available. The philosophy behind Gillespie’s cooking and the one that informs Fire in My Belly is that when the season changes, the menu changes. Therefore, most of these recipes are original, created from scratch, and developed with home cooks in mind.

Homeschool Day: Thanksgiving Traditions

The Atlanta History Center offers special monthly programs for homeschool students and their families. Each month explores a different subject through exhibition tours and a variety of activities for kids from toddler to teen. Admission to Homeschool Days is $8.50 for nonmembers; $6.50 for children of members; and free for adult members.

Magic Monday: Give Thanks

This monthly program for toddlers and preschoolers (18 months to five years) engages our youngest visitors in activities that introduce them to history in creative ways. Each Magic Monday has a unique theme and includes a guided exploration of one of our exhibitions, historic houses, or award-winning gardens, as well as demonstrations, arts and crafts projects, and story time.

Meet the Past Performance: Maude

Located at Rolander Cabin in Metropolitan Frontiers

Maude, an enslaved woman from Smith Farm, must wrestle with whether or not to support a fellow slave in their bid for freedom. A 15-minute performance.

Meet the Past Performance: 54th Regiment Soldier

Friday, November 23, 2012 - Sunday, November 25, 2012   11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM

Located in Turning Point exhibition

Join Union soldier Nate Baker as he grapples with his hopes for the future during the holiday season of 1863, while fighting in the War as a member of the African-American 54th Regiment. A 15-minute performance.
