Visit the Margaret Mitchell House

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operated by the Atlanta History Center, the Margaret Mitchell House is a turn-of-the century, three-story, Tudor Revival building where Margaret Mitchell lived and wrote her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, Gone With the Wind.

Holiday Hours

Margaret Mitchell House will be open 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM on Martin Luther King Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. The House opens at Noon on Independence Day.

Writer, playwright, and philanthropist, Margaret Mitchell was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her novel Gone with the Wind. It was made into an equally famous motion picture starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable.
