Visit the Margaret Mitchell House

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and operated by the Atlanta History Center, the Margaret Mitchell House is a turn-of-the century, three-story, Tudor Revival building where Margaret Mitchell lived and wrote her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, Gone With the Wind.

Holiday Hours

The Margaret Mitchell House will be closed on Thanksgiving Day: Thursday, November 27, 2014.

On December 5, Margaret Mitchell House will close at 4:30 PMwith the last tour beginning at 3:30 PM.

The House will also be closed December 24 through December 26, 2014 and on New Years Day.

Writer, playwright, and philanthropist, Margaret Mitchell was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her novel Gone with the Wind. It was made into an equally famous motion picture starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable.
