Group Tours FAQ

How do I purchase tickets for groups of 10 or more? 

We ask that you fill out a group reservation form online or call the Group Tour Coordinator at 404.814.4031. For a self-guided visit, reservations may be made up to 2 weeks in advance. For a guided experience, reservations must be made 6 weeks in advance.

Can I get the discounted rate if I walk-in with a group? 

No, if you want the discount rate you must make an advance reservation with the Group Tour Coordinator. Otherwise, the general admission rate will apply.

Do you offer on-site food services? 

Yes! Souper Jenny, open Monday- Saturday 11:00-5:00 and Sunday 11:00-3:00, is located in our museum shop. For groups of 10 or more, Souper Jenny offers a pre-ordered boxed lunch menu. We also recommend the Swan Coach House located on Atlanta History Center property.

Can I have a guided tour of an exhibit with a group? 

Yes, we are happy to offer your group a guided experience! We offer customizable tour experiences for groups of 10 or more. Please call 404.814.4031 or email grouptours@atlantahistorycenter.com for more information.

Discover one of our signature exhibits through an engaging experience with one of our highly knowledgeable guides. Get a first-hand account from one of our garden curators on a personalized tour of the historic gardens throughout our campus.

How long should I plan for my visit? 

The average visit takes approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours; longer if you are having lunch. Although there is seating throughout the museum, historic houses, and gardens, you can anticipate being on your feet for as long as fifty minutes and up to one hour while taking a tour.

How does our group check-in? 

Upon arrival, please check-in with Guest Services located to the right of the entrance to the museum. We suggest taking care of bathroom visits, coat check, and payment for your group immediately upon arrival and before the orientation begins with the Group Tour Coordinator.

Cars or vans: Upon entering our front entrance, the parking lot and deck are to the right. To drop passengers off prior to parking, keep to the left after entering and stop in front of the museum. The ticketing desk is located inside on the right.

Buses: Please inform the Group Tour Coordinator prior to your visit if you are arriving by bus. Upon entering through our front entrance, keep to the left and drop passengers off in front of the museum. For your convenience, our Security staff will then direct your driver to our on-site bus parking.

Can I take pictures? 

Photography is allowed! However, please do not use flash as it can be harmful and cause damage to artifacts and objects in our collections.

Is the museum accessible? 

Atlanta History Center welcomes all visitors and is committed to making its programs and services accessible to everyone.

I'm an Atlanta History Center member. How do my benefits extend to group tours?

Members may use their member discount on specialized tours for the number of people their membership allows. For example, dual members may utilize the discount for the person named on their membership and one additional person. Sustaining and Sponsor members may use their discount for the two named adults, four children and four guests of their choosing. Patron level members and above may use their discount for the two named adults, four children and six guests of their choosing.

In the event members come to the Atlanta History Center or Margaret Mitchell House with a group, members may use their benefits to enter free of charge. However, if the group is receiving a specialized tour that is outside the normal offerings to general admissions guests, members will pay the group admission rate for the services they are receiving. 

Membership and guest passes may not be sold or transferred or used in any way for commercial purposes, such as by tour guides to provide access to the Atlanta History Center for customers of the tour guide.
