Youth Writing Workshops

About Youth Writing Workshops, Fall 2010

Workshops at the Margaret Mitchell House provide the opportunity for young people to discover and develop the power and excitement of writing. Participants are inspired and encouraged to polish their writing skills in a fun, interactive environment.  Workshops are limited to fifteen participants, so each student receives individual attention. Attendees learn to create meaningful prose through a variety of writing techniques, including stream-of-consciousness, journaling, free verse poetry, and other methods.

Workshop Cost
$150 members; $200 nonmembers

Price includes a light snack and all writing supplies. If a field trip is added, details and permission slips will be provided in a welcome letter mailed prior to the first day of class. An additional fee of approximately $5-$8.00 required for field trips. Past field trips have included lunch at the Varsity, an art exploration at the High Museum, and a visit to Oakland Cemetery.

Writers Showcase
Each workshop concludes with a “Writers Showcase” for family and friends on the final workshop day.
