When the Civil War Came Home

Tuesday – Friday; Grades K-12
Limit: 25 students
Duration:  1 hour

At the Kenan Research Center at the Atlanta History Center, students learn to identify primary source materials such as letters and diaries of Union soldiers who fought in the Battle of Atlanta, as well as first hand accounts of the war written by Atlanta residents caught in the crossfire. Students analyze vintage photographs and maps of Confederate fortifications built on the outskirts of the city and images of soldiers who fought on both sides of the war.
