Swan House Gardens and Grounds

Experience lavish gardens awaiting beyond the splendid gates of the historic Swan House. The illustrious, 18th century-inspired landscape, created in the 1920’s by renowned architect Philip Trammell Shutze, features a pair of cloverleaf pools, cascading fountains, a terraced lawn, and roses tumbling over a stone retaining wall.  The breathtaking ambiance surrounding the Swan House Garden has made the site one of the most photographed in Atlanta.

Roses (Rosa species) in shades of pink determine the color scheme of the Swan House gardens. The ones pictured here are 'Belinda.' Swan House's classically inspired, formal boxwood garden features both a fountain and broken pediments. Two clover leaf fountains adorn the bottom terrace of Swan House lawn. Dogwoods (Cornus florida), perhaps the South's most beloved native trees, bloom every April in the woods surrounding Swan House.
