Success & Segregation: Black Leadership Under Jim Crow

Success & Segregation: Black Leadership Under Jim Crow examines the lives of African-Americans who triumphed over daunting obstacles - slavery, racial prejudice, Jim Crow laws, and disfranchisement - to form a leadership class within the black community. The efforts of these brave individuals helped set the stage for the Civil Rights Movement and gave many people good reason for hope in the future. Success and Segregation chronicles the success and influence of the leaders who assumed responsibility for organizing the classes and, in effect, advancing the quality of life for the African American community.

This exhibition is currently on loan to the Teaching Museum South.
