Back on the Farm Fundraising Event

Individual Ticket: $225

Friday, May 10, 2013

Friend of of Smith Farm Patron: $750
(includes 2 tickets; recognition in program)

Back on the Farm is a special fundraiser chaired by Sally Dorsey and benefiting the Atlanta History Center, held on Friday, May 10, 2013. The circa 1847 Smith Family Farm, beloved by all who know the Atlanta History Center, will soon become a true working farm featuring animals which would have been present on the property in the first half of the nineteenth century. Animals have been missing from the farm for several years, but will return this spring to provide a more engaging and interpretive experience for visitors. The money raised at this event will bring the animals back on the farm. Back on the Farm will be an elegant, but casual party with fabulous entertainment, a delicious dinner of seasonal, locally sourced food served in the barnyard of the farm.

The funds will be used specifically to support a new Historic Farmer position, which will ensure the care and historical interpretation of the animals; and to renovate the existing farm structures the animals will call home. These exciting transformations will add tremendously to the enjoyment of Smith Family Farm for visitors of all ages.

Our animal friends will join us for the party, as will costumed historical interpreters who bring drama to the Smith Family Farm for visitors on a daily basis, using elements of museum theatre. Sponsors and Patrons have the opportunity to endow the curatorial position for one year, to ‘adopt’ an animal for one year, or to name the select farm structures for one year.
