25th Anniversary of Swan House Ball
Chaired by Terry Brown, the first Swan House Ball gathered 450 prominent Atlanta residents to honor the legendary Louise Allen and to raise significant support for the History Center’s operations and educational programs. The Ball brought a new constituency and visibility to the History Center and set the pace and tone for the elegant and successful events that have followed every year. An Atlanta tradition and a coveted invitation, the Swan House Ball has raised more than $10,000,000 in twenty-five years and is a cornerstone of the History Center’s annual development program. Chaired by Libby Lanier and Lisa Armstrong, the 25th Anniversary Swan House Ball will honor James H. Landon, a devoted supporter of the History Center and other cultural institutions in Atlanta. On April 24, the evening will begin much as it did in 1986, with champagne served at the cascade fountains on the upper lawn of Swan House. Guests will walk across the new Quarry Garden Bridge to the Grand Overlook Ballroom, decorated for the evening by Darryl Wiseman. There, they will enjoy a special anniversary menu prepared by Dennis Dean Catering. Dancing to the music of Class Act will follow. The evening will be capped by a live auction of international trips arranged especially for the History Center by Century Travel. Invitations, courtesy of Cartier’s Melissa Altman, will be mailed in March. For ticket or sponsorship information, please contact Julie Heiner at 404.814.4102 or email. The Atlanta History Center is proud to recognize the Swan House Ball Chairmen for the past 24 years. 1986 Terry Brown

In 2010, the Swan House Ball turns twenty-five. Established in 1986 by Atlanta History Center leaders, the first Swan House Ball celebrated the period of the 1920s during which architect Philip Trammell Shutze designed the Swan House for Edward and Emily Inman.
