The Atlanta History Center is a leader in training and mentoring young museum professionals. The program reveals the inner-workings of the museum to the interns, providing interns the opportunity to contribute to the mission of the History Center. In this way, they make significant contributions in various departments throughout the organization. The History Center provides an ideal learning environment for students to explore their interest in the museum field and to develop critical professional skills.
Internships are held during three sessions throughout the year. Please refer to the internship opportunities to view the department offerings for each session. Students pursuing their undergraduate degree, as well as graduate students and recent graduates (within the last twelve months) are eligible to apply for an internship at the Atlanta History Center. Prospective interns are students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and have professional goals that are in alignment with the programs offered at the Atlanta History Center. Interns are placed according to departmental needs that vary from session to session.
To apply, provide:
1. Completed application form (please list your preferred internship opportunity)
3. Required Essays
4. Two letters of recommendation (one from a reference listed, one from an academic professional from your school)
5. Official transcripts of undergraduate and/or graduate records
The Atlanta History Center encourages students from all backgrounds to apply and is dedicated to a culturally diverse internship group.
